Small Changes

I read a report yesterday compiled by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that states that only 2.7% of Americans are adhering to the 4 most important healthy habits (these are fairly commonsense: eating well, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking and keeping body fat in check). These are discouraging statistics, and I think for many people the idea of making changes to their lifestyle is so completely overwhelming that they decide instead to do... nothing.

But...something is always better than nothing.

My own example: I have been trying to incorporate a yoga practice as a part of my exercise routine for, oh...say 4 years. I tend to be stiff and inflexible and yoga feels great and enhances my running and quality of life. However, I cannot seem to get this going. I've tried classes, yoga apps, online programs, you tube videos with no progress. Should I give up completely on ever doing yoga? For the month of April, I decided to do one sun salutation per day. Just one. Takes 30 seconds. While this is a small change, I am doing more yoga than ever before and on a daily basis. Small changes. What small changes can you make in your daily life to make it healthier and more enjoyable? Keep moving!!
